Microsoft has released a statement saying that this error can be caused by faulty hardware, anti-virus software, a corrupted NTFS volume or bad drivers. In this article, I’ll walk you through the different solutions, some of which are easier than others.
The main reason why this error occurs is because of RAM. If you don’t have enough RAM, your computer will not be able to run properly. However, I’ll list the easier solutions first so that you can avoid having to open your computer and add/remove RAM chips.
Method 1 – Adjust Paging File
If you are having trouble with paging files, try a simple trick: if the issue is not hardware related, then try to rename the paging file.
In the System Properties dialog box, click on the Advanced tab and then click on the Environment Variables button. In the Environment Variables dialog box, click on the Security tab and then click on the Local Security Options button. In the Local Security Options dialog box, click on the Security Options button and then click on the User Accounts button. In the User Accounts dialog box,click on the Add User button. In the Add User dialog box, enter a name for your new user account and then click OK. You will now be able to access your new user account from your computer.
This link will take you to a more detailed system settings page. On this page, you can change the following: -The default language for your computer -The time zone of your computer -The security level of your computer -The user account that has administrator rights on your computer
Under Performance, click on the Settings button.
Under the Virtual Memory heading, you can change the amount of memory that your computer uses.
We have reached a point where we need to uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box and then select No paging file.
If you have a large hard drive and want it to be managed by Windows, check the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box.
This is a workaround for some people, but not others. If you’re still getting blue screens, keep reading.
Method 2- Check Disk
If your hard drive is either failing or has errors on it, you can check it by running the chkdsk command in Windows.

If you get a message stating the drive is locked and if you would like to schedule a check on the next restart, type in Y for yes. Go ahead and restart your computer and allow check to run, which could take a long time on Windows 7 and earlier. The process is much faster on Windows 8 and Windows 10. ..
Method 3 – Bad Driver
If you’re having a blue screen issue with your computer, it’s likely that you have a driver that’s not up to date. To fix the issue, you’ll need to update the driver.
If you are using third-party software to automatically update your PC drivers, it’s a good idea to configure the software so that you can review each driver that is going to be updated beforehand. This way, you can make sure that the updates are appropriate for your computer and won’t cause any problems. ..
Anyway, you can try to fix this problem by clicking on Start and typing in Device Manager. Right-click on the device that you updated the driver for and select Roll Back Driver. You can also choose Properties and then go to the Driver tab and click the Roll Back Driver button. ..
If the button is disabled or you don’t see the option when you right-click on a device, that means that there are no current drivers for that device and you need to install a new driver.
Windows is trying to install the driver for the hardware, but it’s not working. Try the next method.
Method 4 – Last Known Config
In some cases, the issue is bigger than just a driver and will require using the Last Known Good Configuration feature in Windows.
In Windows 7 and earlier, you could press the F8 key to bring up the Advanced Options screen when booting up. This old version of the registry worked differently, and you had to use the F8 key in order to access it.

If you have more than one RAM chip, pop one out and then turn on your computer. If the blue screen goes away, then you took out the bad one. If not, switch and try again.
If you only have one RAM chip, you will not be able to run the computer without at least one RAM chip. ..
Method 6 – Anti-virus Software
In some rare cases, your computer may be experiencing blue screen errors when it tries to run anti-virus software. I recommend uninstalling your anti-virus program and then restarting the computer.
If you are using an anti-virus product from a smaller lesser-known company, it is worth a shot to try to fix the error.
